Testimonials New Elm Spring Colony Ethan, SD - Mike Wollman, Hog Boss
New Elm Springs is a 30+-year-old facility consisting of gestation and nursery scraper units and a 2,500-head finishing unit with a pull plug pit 150’x50’x4’. The connected storage unit is a slurry store with a holding volume of 800,000 gallons. This is a very high load storage system. Pre-Pit Remedy Environment The manure in the finishing pit was very thick and in several spots manure was piled up through the slats. Of greater concern was the loss of 1/3 of the storage capacity in the slurry store.
Pit Remedy Environment Pit Remedy was applied in the finishing barn to liquefy the thick solids. The building was cleaned out after two applications. The liquefied waste was then pumped into the slurry store and Pit Remedy continued to break up solids there. Between spring and fall pumping an additional 150,000 gallons of slurry was pumped without agitation. In Conclusion New Elm Spring colony, after trying multiple products, was able to regain significant capacity in both their buildings and slurry store using Pit Remedy during the summer months. They have also reported that when the slurry was applied to the fields it did not have the usual odor. New Elm is continuing with Pit Remedy for on-going maintenance.
