Facilities

Four pull plug, 1,000 head units with tunnel ventilation.  Each pit has pull plugs at both ends.  Slurry is drained into a 1.8 million-gallon cement basin.

Pre-Pit Remedy Environment

Manure solids had built up to the point that one-third to one-half of the length of the pits were plugged.  Draining could only occur at one end of the buildings.  Solid manure measured 9- to 12- inches.

During late fall monthly Pit Remedy applications were started.  In some cases Pit Remedy was injected and worked into the thickest solids.  By May the pits were liquefied and could be drained from either end of the buildings.

In Conclusion
